Musk believes Twitter is the digital town square, and it should promote Free speech.
Twitter algorithm is also on its way to getting open-sourced, which will increase trust in its users and will openly clarify why tweets get promoted or demoted.
And future changes to the algorithm will also be public, for people to understand and suggest changes.
As all of the decisions can’t be made by the algorithm, the human-made decisions in doubt will lean towards letting the tweet exist there, promoting free speech.
Musk also want to enhance twitter as a product with new features and defeating the spam bots and authenticating all humans.
From an economical point of view, it may not look like a wise choice as Elon could have got way more returns on the amount if he would have invested it in Tesla.
It looks more like a moral point of view, and I won’t get surprised if a person working on sustainable energy, transportation, and space exploration also promotes Free speech.
